Paul Teutul Sr. Unveiling “Heat of the Battle” Bike at FDIC
4/1/08-One of the world’s premier builders of custom motorcycles, Orange County Choppers (OCC) has designed a one-of-a-kind motorcycle honoring firefighters for Fire-Dex, one of the nation’s largest firefighter turnout gear manufacturers.
The “Heat of the Battle” motorcycle was commissioned to celebrate Fire-Dex’s 25
th
anniversary in business, and to promote its newest and most comfortable product line—FX™ Gear. The chopper will be won by an active firefighter as the grand prize in “Take the Fire-Dex Challenge” at the world’s largest firefighter training conference and exhibition, the Fire Department Instructor’s Conference (FDIC), April 10-12 in Indianapolis, IN.
“We wanted to build a bike inspired by firefighters, for a firefighter to win at FDIC that celebrates the developments in comfort technology FX Gear brings to the personal protective equipment industry,” said Bill Burke, Fire-Dex President.
Fire-Dex will unveil its “Heat of the Battle” at FDIC. The “Heat of the Battle” will be presented to Fire-Dex President Bill Burke by OCC founder Paul Teutul Sr. on Friday, April 11. Paul Teutul Sr. will also sign autographs from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Fire-Dex booth #1300 in an event open to all FDIC attendees.
“The delivery of the ‘Heat of the Battle’ and appearance from Paul Sr. are just two components of the “Take the Fire-Dex Challenge” event and 25
th
anniversary celebration going on in Fire-Dex’s booth throughout FDIC,” said Burke. “‘Fire-Dex Challenge’ participants will also be trying out the new FX Gear while competing against others in a firefighter-inspired obstacle course for a chance to win the custom bike.”
The “Heat of the Battle” has custom painted and chromed parts designed by Orange County Choppers in collaboration with Fire-Dex throughout the chopper’s design. These firefighter-inspired parts include a mural dedicated to the brave New York firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11, and an American flag representative of firefighters’ spirit of patriotism.
“Anytime we get to build a bike that pays tribute to the brave men and women of our country it is always such an honor,” said Paul Teutul Sr. “Building the Fire-Dex ‘Heat of Battle’ bike was no exception.”
The “Heat of the Battle” was custom-built from a T-Rex Softail frame, has a 100 cubic inch S&S engine with Final Belt Drive, and 24 inch seat height. It also has a one-of-a-kind paint scheme from Nub Grafix that incorporates the unique PBI Matrix fabric Fire-Dex uses to create FX Gear surrounded by a flame motif.
Fire-Dex is a quality manufacturer of protective firefighting clothing and emergency response apparel.
